4e:Mounted Fort

From Trad Games Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Mounted forts are elaborate structures that are carried upon the backs of sizeable beasts, providing a military platform that gives an unparalleled vantage point on the battlefield. Ranged attackers - such as crossbowmen - may take advantage of mounted forts to keep out of reach of melee attackers, relying upon their beast's natural durability and savagery to keep them protected.

The fey packsaddle is a diminutive version of the common mounted fort utilised mainly by pixies and other fey. At a distance they resemble laden saddlebags, hence their name, but those perilously closer may notice the weapons bristling off the side. They are often found on sturdy forest creatures, such as boars and stags, which can support the weight of over a dozen tiny warriors and their weaponry. Some have even been known to sport miniature catapults and other siege weaponry.
